My thanks to @andrayauthor @lovebookstours for a review copy.

This is DCI Lomond's first in the series and also my first read, and loved it!! John Lomond is a seasoned detective, 5 years ago he headed a very complex case, children were abducted and after 5 days, like clockwork, were found dead with some sand as the only evidence. During the investigation, John received the terrible news of the death of his wife and newborn during labour. The case went cold and eventually filled. Present Day. John is brought back, with a new team, to investigate the disappearance of Jack Ferguson a 5-year-old boy, the only evidence is sand on his bed. Is the Sandman (as he was nicknamed) back to continue his killing spree? Could it be a copycat? All signs point to the sandman but there is something different with this case, you have to read it to find out! The story is based in Glasgow during a heat wave, so you can imagine the tension amongst the team. I love the way Andrew has created John Lomond, his a lonely man who still grieves the loss of his wife and son. He makes the case his vendetta. Andrew's writing is engaging and very believable, an author I must look into. Police procedural at its finest, a story with great twists and plenty of tension. Looking forward to the second instalment and a fantastic start to a new series. Highly recommended *****

I've been a fan of thrillers ever since watching All the President's Men when I was far too young to understand what was going on. Now every day I get to indulge in my passion for fast-paced stories, characters you really care about, and to bring you behind the scenes of the intelligence agencies and the most secretive parts of the political world (the parts they don't want you to know about).

It's often said that I write cinematically, which isn't a coincidence, as my influences are as much in cinema as

literature: Daniel Craig's Bond films, Glengarry Glen Ross, Spartan. TV has also been a major factor in my writing. From the original BBC miniseries State of Play, David Simon's The Wire, and Aaron Sorkin, writer of The West Wing; and the US version of House of Cards.

I have worked in the book industry since I was 21.
