Metal constructions are being found underground as a result of earthquakes all across the world. When exploring, hundreds of bones—not just a few—are discovered around the structures.

The principal characters in the book have excellent character development and are likeable and complex. The heroine, Rebecca Duccati, is a powerful, knowledgeable, and determined woman who is not afraid to take chances to learn the truth. The exchanges between Agent Demzey and Rebecca give the narrative depth and complexity. Agent Demzey is an engaging character with a distinct perspective on the inquiry.
The plot is well-constructed, with many twists and turns, and the writing is fascinating and straightforward. The reader is kept in suspense until the end by the mystery surrounding the underground discovery and its relation to the murders.
"All Hopes of Becoming Human" is an exciting and thought-provoking book that examines some of the most critical issues about the history of humanity. A gripping plot is created through the novel integration of science fiction, archaeology, and criminal investigation.

Lonnie Busch is an award-winning author whose work has also appeared in Southwest Review, The Minnesota Review, The Baltimore Review and others. His awards include the Clay Reynolds Novella Prize, finalist for the Tobias Wolff Award for Fiction, and the Glimmer Train Very Short Fiction Award. He is also a painter, illustrator, animator who has created artwork for many companies including the “Greetings from America” stamps and “Wonders of America” for the USPS.
